Arts Council Increases Grants

Arts Council
Silicon Valley has announced grants totaling
$388,768, being given to 106 small and mid-sized
performance and cultural groups for their 2004-05
fiscal years.
The funding represents a 25
percent increase over the Arts Council's previous
year's grants, thanks substantially to a previously
announced, three-year, $750,000 grant from the John
S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
Groups receiving funding for
either project support or general operating aid
include the Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra,
Mariachi San Jose, the San Jose Jazz Society and
Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana (MACLA).
