In June 2004, at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, FYCO embarked on a cultural exchange tour and visited three of China’s most prestigious conservatories of music—in Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. Young Firebirds performed with their counterparts in joint concerts at each institution. FYCO is the first Chinese Orchestra from the Western world to perform in China.

The group also toured many historical and scenic sites. It was a journey filled with excitement, learning and friendship.
